Dartmouth is in the South Hams area, on the South Coast of Devon. 1 hour drive from Exeter, and 25 minutes from Totnes.
Dartmouth is located on the stunning River Dart, and is a short drive from the beautiful Start Bay coast.
Is Dartmouth near Salcombe?
Dartmouth is a scenic 40 minute drive from Salcombe.
As Dartmouth has more choice in terms of accommodation, restaurants and activities than Salcombe. Dartmouth makes a great base for a day trip to explore its neighbouring town.
What is parking like in Dartmouth?
Dartmouth is a historic town, built on steep hills down to the harbour, so the roads are narrow.
There are, however, plenty of parking options, depending on where you are staying or how long your visit is.
Where is the nearest train station to Dartmouth?
Totnes is the nearest national train station to Dartmouth, and trains take 3 hours from London Paddington.
Local and seasonal steam trains run from Kingswear Train Station which is a short ferry ride across the river from Dartmouth.
Is there much accommodation in Dartmouth?

Dartmouth is a seasonal town in terms of tourism trade, but it has a vibrant business community all year round. Those businesses focused on visitors do use the quieter months for maintenance and refurbishment, but there are plenty of reasons to still visit in the quieter months:
